Peniel Joseph
Peniel Joseph would fall under the category of people in favor of the Black Lives Matter Movement. He is the Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is also a professor of history. He often defends the movement, like in an article he wrote for CNN. There, he argued that the movement does not provoke the violence against police officers, claiming that the movement has never been “anti-government, anti-police or anti-white”. He goes on to say that the Black Lives Matter Movement has had a positive impact on the whole conflict, as they have caused the public to become more aware than before about the problems in the criminal justice system in today’s world.
