About
My name is Pedro Salazar Ramirez, and I am a freshman at the University of Maryland. I am building this website as part of my English 101 class, in order to explore and display my research on Black Lives Matter here. All of my peers are creating similar websites about their respective topics as well.
Twelve weeks ago, when we first started researching, I did not know much about my topic. I just knew about Black Lives Matter and Police Brutality through the countless news stories constantly being published about them. I knew it was a relevant topic, and I learned a lot about it.
I had the notion beforehand that the movement was helping the issue, but I found that it was much more complicated than that. For my inquiry paper, my question revolved around how people perceived the movement. I found how polarizing the movement was and why some people supported it and why others opposed it.
For my CAP, I then tried to take a stance on the issue, looking at some of the problems of the movement, and how if they fix these problems the movement could become even more successful. Some of its problems included their lack of organization and the violent nature of some of the protests that the Black Lives Matter movement staged.
With my website, I hope that people visiting here will be ale to learn a bit more about The Black Lives Matter Movement, why it is so controversial, and some different perspectives on the matter.
